940,000 HDB Households to Receive 2.5X Their Regular GST Voucher in April 2020

What is Goods and Services Tax (GST) Voucher? The permanent GST Voucher scheme was introduced by the Government in Budget 2012 to help lower-income Singaporeans.

About 940,000 Singaporean households in Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats will receive double their regular GST Voucher – U-Save in financial year (FY) 2020, through a one-off GST Voucher – U-Save Special Payment.

Eligible households with five or more members will receive an additional GST Voucher – U-Save rebate, and will thus receive a total of 2.5 times their regular GST Voucher – U-Save in FY2020.

How Much is the U-Save Rebate According to HDB Type?

HDB Flat TypeRebate to be received in Apr 2020
One and Two-room Flat$300
Three-room Flat$270
Four-room Flat$240
Five-room Flat$210
Executive/Multi-generation Flat$180

Those who own more than one property are not eligible for the GST Voucher.

What are the three components of the GST Voucher?

1. Cash

Provides lower-income Singaporeans with some cash for immediate needs. Paid in August each year.

2. MediSave

Provides elderly Singaporeans aged 65 and above with a top-up to their CPF MediSave account, to support their medical needs. Paid in August each year.

3. Utilities-Save (U-Save)

Provides lower- and middle-income HDB households with‚Äã quarterly rebates to offset their utility bills. Paid in January, April, July and October each year.‚Äã

All HDB Lift Buttons Will Have a Self-Disinfecting Coating

Have you always been using your keys or other objects to press lift buttons, especially with the recent COVID-19 outbreak?

Well you can now put your mind at ease, as a self-disinfecting coating that lasts for three months has been applied to buttons in all HDB lifts and lift lobbies in Singapore over the past two weeks .

About Self-Disinfecting Coating (Sdst)

The coating, called Sdst, kills bacteria, viruses and fungi upon contact and remains in place despite repeated scrubbing and cleaning. The chemical bonding agents help it to adhere tightly to surfaces at a molecular level.

Manufactured in the United States and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency, it is sprayed on surfaces in liquid form like regular disinfectants and is safe on human skin.
